Yankees vote to stay at spring training during coronavirus shutdown, continue workouts

The New York Yankees aren’t ready to go home.

According to player representative Zack Britton, Yankees’ players have unanimously voted to stay and continue working out at the team facility in Florida despite MLB canceling spring training and delaying opening day.

The news comes hours after Major League Baseball and the Major League Baseball Players’ Association reportedly advised players to leave camp and return home.

In a memo released Friday, the MLBPA union did confirm that players would ultimately be permitted to remain in the area of their respective team’s spring training facility and continue working out if they so choose.
