Yankees Add a New Part (McCutchen) and Get an Old One Back (Sanchez)

For Andrew McCutchen, the hardest part about becoming a Yankee was shaving his beard. Not because he had any qualms about complying with his new team’s facial-hair policy so much as he feared that his 9-month-old son, Steel, wouldn’t recognize him.

“The only thing I was worried about was my son and what his reaction was going to be,” McCutchen said at a pregame news conference on Saturday. “So I held him the whole time I was cutting it, because I didn’t want to do it and then he’d be like, ‘Waahh.’

“So I just cut it, held him, and he stared at me for about five minutes, touched all of my face.
