High-speed crashes at NASCAR restrictor-plate tracks are jaw-dropping. One in Saturday's Xfinity Series race at Talladega was downright cringe-worthy.
On Lap 30 of the Xfinitity Series' Sparks Energy 300, Chris Cockrum and Joey Gase were involved in an accident on the backstretch of the 2.66-mile Alabama track. Both cars careened into an infield wall at close to 150 mph. But than didn't end their wild rides.
Cockrum's car received the worst of the damage as his No. 25 slammed head-on with the SAFER barrier. It then lifted off the hard surface and spun nearly four times before coming to a stop near the track's yellow line.
