The man who created a magical baseball diamond is now part of the team of immortals who helped give that diamond life.
W.P. Kinsella, author of "Shoeless Joe," which became "Field of Dreams," which has become an enduring piece of baseball lore, ended his life Friday at age 81 in British Columbia. Maybe his spirit will swap stories with the legends who came out of that cornfield in Iowa (aka heaven, aka the place dreams come true).

"Shoeless Joe," a 1982 novel by Kinsella , was adapted into a 1989 motion picture with an all-star cast led by Kevin Costner and James Earl Jones.
