NASCAR Chairman and CEO Brian France made headlines in the political arena recently with his personal endorsement of Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump.
France told the Associated Press that the endorsement was his and his alone , not on behalf of NASCAR. That didn’t stop Trump, though, from claiming that he had NASCAR’s support at ensuing rallies, including one in Charlotte, N.C.

Trump didn’t just blithely accept France’s endorsement — he compared him to investor Carl Icahn and suggested he would “put the NASCAR guru in charge of trade relations with Japan,” NBC Sports reported.
