CLEVELAND — Matt Riccardi dressed appropriately for Game 1 of the World Series between the Cubs and Indians.
White Indians throwback jersey complete with a bold red 99. Thick-rimmed black glasses with skull-and-crossbones in between. You know where this is going.
Riccardi, an Akron native who flew in from San Diego, came dressed as Rick “Wild Thing” Vaughn from “Major League.” That’s one of the most popular jerseys — or costumes — at an Indians playoff game right now. Only now, “Major League” has become reality for Indians fans again, like it did for Riccardi as a young fan in 1995 and 1997.
