World Series 2016: Jon Lester vs. Indians' base runners is Game 1's biggest battle

No pitcher in baseball is worse than Jon Lester at holding runners close to first base.

This isn’t a new revelation, of course. Lester’s had this problem for years. The Cubs lefty just has a mental issue, and he basically refuses to throw the baseball over to Anthony Rizzo.

You know what Lester calls his pick-off move? He calls it David Ross.

Well, he should. Ross is Lester’s personal catcher and has been for years. The veteran is darn good at picking off runners who stray too far from the first-base bag, like he did here to Conor Gillaspie of the Giants in the NLDS.
