CHARLOTTE, N.C. — As soon as Louise Bean moved to Utah with her husband seven years ago, she stumbled across an article in Sports Illustrated about women’s football teams forming in the south.
Utah wasn’t mentioned, though. So she moved forward with her life.
“I just remember thinking, ‘Man, I wish that could be me,’” Bean told Sporting News.

Years passed. The Beans had three children. Life moved on.
Then one day Bean saw in the local paper that an Independent Women’s Football League team was coming to Utah.
