W.N.B.A. Suspends Brittney Griner and Glory Johnson in Domestic Violence Case

Brittney Griner and her wife, Glory Johnson, were each suspended for seven games by the W.N.B.A. on Friday over a domestic violence incident between the two in April.

The players will also be required to attend counseling sessions.

The W.N.B.A. season is only 34 games long, so the suspensions are for 21 percent of it, the equivalent of a 17-game suspension in the N.B.A.

The players were arrested on April 22 after fighting at their house outside Phoenix. The W.N.B.A., which conducted its own investigation, said that “Brittney received a bite wound on her finger and scratches on her wrist, and Glory received a scratch above her lip and was diagnosed with a concussion” in the incident.
