Mercury's Griner arrested on assault allegations Phoenix
Phoenix Mercury star Brittney Griner was arrested Wednesday in Goodyear on allegations of assault, according to the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office.
Griner, 24, was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of assault and disorderly conduct, according to booking information.
Griner was a key player for the Mercury, helping them win the WNBA title in 2014. She was named the league's Defensive Player of the Year, in addition to being named All-WNBA First Team.

Jail information indicates that Griner was released at about 4 a.
