WIMBLEDON, England — Some of the people who showed up to Court 2 on Monday expecting to see outbursts and petulant behavior from Nick Kyrgios were not disappointed.
Kyrgios delivered plenty of fireworks, but the man who obliterated his own racket with an overhead smash against his chair was Richard Gasquet, his victorious opponent.
Gasquet, the No. 21 seed, received a code violation for the outburst, but on a day where he sent home one of the most provocative players of the tournament, it was worth it, in his eyes. He said it actually helped him win.
