Wisconsin lands commitment from 2026 quarterback, starter at high school powerhouse

Wisconsin landed a commitment from class of 2026 quarterback Ryan Hopkins on Sunday.

Hopkins chose the Badgers over other top contenders Missouri, Cal and Duke, according to On3's Hayes Fawcett. His offer sheet also includes Arizona, Michigan State, Kentucky, Oklahoma State, UCF, Utah, Washington and Virginia.

247Sports currently lists the Santa Ana, California, native as a three-recruit, ranked specifically as the No. 528 overall player in the class of 2026, No. 29 quarterback and No. 47 recruit from California. Despite the measured rating, Hopkins is currently the starting quarterback at high school football powerhouse Mater Dei, which has sent several quarterbacks to the NFL, including Bryce Young (via Alabama), Matt Leinart (via USC) and Matt Barkley (via USC).
