The drivers on the Chase bubble were able to breathe a sigh of relief late Sunday.
While many drivers picked up another Darlington stripe (or stripes) to add to their collection during Sunday’s Bojangles’ Southern 500, none of those who are on the edge of either making or missing out on the postseason did anything really bad to mess up their chances. Outside of a possible rules violation penalty for Ryan Newman, who failed post-race inspection (we’ll find out Tuesday how bad it’ll be), it’s a pretty good bet Chase Elliott, Austin Dilllon, Jamie McMurray and Newman will still be duking it out to make the Chase come Saturday.
