The report cited an unidentified source. Taggart led the Bulls (10-2) to their most successful season in school history in 2016.
ESPN notes a strong Tampa connection to the Oregon job for Taggart with former Bucs coach Tony Dungy lobbying strongly on Taggart's behalf.
Dungy's son, Eric, played at Oregon before transferring to USF in 2014 to play for Taggart.
