The man accused of shooting and killing former Saints defensive end Will Smith has been indicted by a grand jury for second-degree murder.
Cardell Hayes, 28, also was charged with the attempted second-degree murder of Smith's widow, Racquel, after allegedly shooting her in the leg twice, according to multiple reports.

Hayes, who was held on a total of $1.75 million bond, pleaded not guilty to all four counts against him, including aggravated assault with a firearm and aggravated criminal damage to a vehicle.
The indictment took place during a probable cause hearing in which witnesses called by the defense testified about the shooting.
