Back in April, as Manchester City continued laying the foundations for Pep Guardiola’s arrival, Vincent Kompany was available to anybody willing to buy him.
At the time, sources with knowledge of the club’s summer plans were indicating that Guardiola was less than convinced by Kompany, Joe Hart and Yaya Toure.
It would take a few weeks for Hart to be sent on loan to Torino, and only after he was frozen out of the first-team picture.
Toure refused to budge. City was actively trying to get rid of the Ivorian but, not content with his options, he decided to spend his final season at City getting paid around 1 million pounds per month to train and watch the matches on television.
