CLEVELAND — After Donovan Mitchell’s introductory press conference, Cavaliers coach J.B. Bickerstaff was privately asked the question on most fans’ minds.
“Who’s the 3?”
“Nice try,” Bickerstaff responded with a smile.
Three-time All-Star guard Mitchell, acquired in a stunning Sept. 1 trade with the Utah Jazz, will occupy the backcourt with first-time All-Star Darius Garland. Two 7-footers (minus an inch), All-Star center Jarrett Allen and center/forward Evan Mobley, the 2022 Rookie of the Year runner-up, will protect the rim.
