The Detroit Lions' internal spending spree continued Monday with a headline move.
ESPN's Adam Schefter reported the NFC North team and quarterback Jared Goff agreed to a four-year, $212 million contract extension with $170 million in guarantees. The deal makes the 29-year-old the highest-paid player in Detroit franchise history and keeps him under contract through the 2028 campaign.
It is quite the deal from an average annual value perspective at $53 million per season once the extension starts.
Here is where it will rank on an average annual basis compared to other quarterbacks, per Over The Cap:
- Joe Burrow, Cincinnati Bengals: $55 million per year
- Jared Goff, Detroit Lions, $53 million per year
- Justin Herbert, Los Angeles Chargers, $52.
