As Firestone Country Club gave the world's best golfers a firm test once again Saturday, Jason Day and Scott Piercy rose to a tie atop the leaderboard through 54 holes.

Day survived an abysmal afternoon off the tee in which he missed fairways right and left. The world's top-ranked golfer drained putts of every length to card a 1-under 69 and remain in the driver's seat heading into the final round, at 5 under for the tournament.

Piercy played 17 holes bogey-free Saturday before dropping a shot on 18 to finish with a 3-under 67.
