NEW YORK — The Mets’ celebration of their National League championship was understated at their home opener on Friday afternoon, a simple and honest raising of a flag up a pole. That’s really just how their manager would like things, anyway.
“I was glad we finally got it over with,” Terry Collins said after New York’s 7-2 victory over the Phillies. “As I said before the game today, 2015’s over. Today, we were very excited, with a great crowd, but we’ve got to get focused on the remaining 159 games now that we have. I’m glad we won, glad our fans got to see us win, and they’re excited, and we plan on winning a lot more.
