Xabi Alonso kicked off Bayern Munich's season in spectacular fashion, delivering a (earliest possible) goal of the season contender in the opening minutes of Bayern's Bundesliga-opening match with Werder Bremen at the Allianz Arena on Friday.
Alonso, who didn't score a Bundesliga goal last season, got on the board nine minutes into the new campaign. With Bayern pressuring from the opening whistle, the Spanish veteran had a clearance attempt fall to him some 25 yards from goal. As he's done plenty of times in the past, he calmly struck a perfect ball off the bounce that rifled into the upper right-hand corner.
