RICHMOND, Va. – A scary fire erupted on pit road Friday night during the Xfinity Series race at Richmond International Raceway, briefly engulfing two crew members from Brendan Gaughan's No. 62 team.
As Gaughan was completing a pit stop just prior to the halfway point of the race, the fuel suddenly connected with a spark and flames swallowed rear tire changer Anthony O'Brien and gas man Josh Wittman.
The fires on both Richard Childress Racing crewmen were quickly extinguished, along with the fire itself, but O'Brien was transported to the infield care center while holding an oxygen mask.
