France scrum-half Nolann le Garrec was accused of diving during Racing 92’s loss to Perpignan in the Top 14 this weekend in a clip that was condemned by former referee Nigel Owens.
With 10 minutes remaining and Racing trailing 28-17, Le Garrec moved towards a breakdown before reeling backwards clutching his face following what appeared to be an innocuous bump against Perpignan prop Bruce Devaux.
A dramatic piece of simulation did not buy Le Garrec’s team a penalty. Indeed, the 22-year-old became the subject of intense criticism as the incriminating clip was shared on social media.
