In 1998, Justin Rose played the Open Championship at Royal Birkdale as an amateur. He shot a 69 in the final round that year and finished T4, two shots out of playoff between Mark O'Meara and Brian Watts. Tiger Woods finished third. It remains Rose's best finish at an Open and was his only top 10 until he finished T6 in 2015.

"At the beginning of my week all I wanted was to be a part of it all," Rose said at the time.
