Bernard Hopkins was knocked out of the ring by Joe Smith Jr. at The Forum in Los Angeles on Saturday in the eighth round of what the 51-year-old says is the last fight of his career.
Referee Jack Reiss ruled Smith won by TKO, marking the first time Hopkins lost a fight by knockout. Hopkins has a career record of 55-8-2.

Hopkins claims he was pushed out of the ring, but video shows he was sent through the ropes by a solid combination from Smith.
"I know for a fact that if I had not been pushed out of the ring after I had made him miss, the second half of the fight, where I’m known for coming back and I’m known for going after it when I’m down multiple rounds, I believe he was starting to fade out," Hopkins said to HBO’s Max Kellerman after the fight (via Yahoo!
