APIA, Samoa (AP) Winger Steffan Evans scored two second-half tries as Wales twice came from behind Friday to beat Samoa 19-17 in a rain-soaked rugby test at Apia Stadium.
On a ground made muddy by persistent heavy rain and with a slippery ball, Wales used an accurate kicking game to gain control of the match after trailing by a point, 10-9, at halftime.
Samoa made a strong start, taking a 10-0 lead after as many minutes with a try to winger Alapati Leiua and a conversion and penalty to flyhalf Tusi Pisi.
Wales fought its way back into the match with three first-half penalties to flyhalf Sam Davies and took the lead for the first time with Evans’ first try in the second minute of the second half.
