CONCORD, N.C. — You knew it was going to be a wild night when a full moon peeked through the clouds just before the start of the Sprint All-Star Race at Charlotte Motor Speedway.
The night started with a vicious thunderstorm that cleared the grandstands, drenched the track and washed out pre-race qualifying. When the green flag finally flew near 10 p.m. ET, it didn’t take long for NASCAR to enter the world of the bizarro, turning one of its marque events into something resembling an episode of "The Twilight Zone."
