WASHINGTON — Fourth-ranked Virginia reached this year's ACC Tournament semifinals the way it has won the past several years under Tony Bennett, with clamp-down defense, patient offense and brilliance by Player of the Year Malcolm Brogdon. That’s how the Cavaliers routed Georgia Tech on Thursday night, that’s how they won the tournament two years ago and reached the Sweet 16, and that’s how they won 11 of their last 13 regular-season games to kick their season into overdrive.
Miami and Jim Larranaga, though, dealt Virginia one of those two losses since mid-January … and it was less than three weeks ago.
