Frank Beamer won’t be wearing a headset this season, but Virginia Tech won’t be without its former player and longtime coach because a special-teams player of the week will be selected to wear Beamer’s No. 25 Hokies jersey to honor his tenure with the program.
A different special teams player each week will wear the No. 25 beginning with the opener against Liberty this Saturday in Blacksburg, Va.

“Thanks to Coach Beamer, his assistants and many talented student-athletes, Virginia Tech has become synonymous with special teams success,” new VT coach Justin Fuente said in a release.
