Minnesota Vikings defensive coordinator George Edwards was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving in May, a Twin Cities Pioneer Press report revealed Tuesday.
Edwards pleaded guilty Aug. 30 to a misdemeanor charge of careless driving and was sentenced to one year of probation with a $1,000 fine.
In response to the report, the Vikings issued a statement Tuesday that said Edwards "immediately notified the team of this situation when it occurred" and "was significantly disciplined." The previously undisclosed incident had been uncovered recently by a Pioneer Press review of court documents.
Edwards was arrested May 21 after he was stopped by police in Chanhassen, Minn.
