Vikings' Alex Boone acknowledges concussion dangers, ditches old helmet

Alex Boone experienced the dangers of concussions firsthand after he sustained his first recorded one Oct. 31 in the Vikings' 20-10 loss to the Bears.

After being forced to sit out Minnesota's game against the Lions on Sunday, he is making some changes to try to ensure he doesn't suffer the traumatic brain injuries many football players before him have.

“This is a brutal game,” Boone told the St. Paul Pioneer Press. “I’m at a position where you’re getting hit constantly in the head.
