Christian Pulisic may have been sent to the hospital for scans after injuring himself while scoring the game-winning goal against Iran, but that didn’t stop the U.S. men’s national team forward from celebrating.
The 24-year-old posted on Instagram, “No words to explain what this means to us ! Let’s go @usmnt ud83cuddfaud83cuddf8” with a gallery of photos. He scored the lone goal that lifted the USMNT to the knockout round for the first time since 2014.
The team confirmed Tuesday night that Pulisic suffered a pelvic contusion and is considered “day-to-day.” The forward was injured when he collided with the Iran goalkeeper, writhing on the ground inside of the goal in pain despite having just scored the first World Cup goal of his career.
