American striker Bobby Wood came up big in his Bundesliga debut match with Hamburg on Saturday.
The 23-year-old Wood, a native of Hawaii, didn’t take long to notch his first goal, scoring in the 30th minute against Ingolstadt off a long goal kick that led him into the box.
A nice bit of body control and a great strike led to a 1–0 lead.
Wood joined Hamburg from second division side Union Berlin this summer. He scored 17 goals in 31 appearances for Berlin last season.
Hamburg and Ingolstadt went on to draw 1–1.
