USMNT handed reprieve with World Cup qualifier rout of Guatemala

The United States' World Cup 2018 qualification hopes were given a significant boost Tuesday as the men's national team moved up to second in CONCACAF Group C with a 4-0 win over Guatemala in Columbus, Ohio.

Clint Dempsey settled U.S. fans' nerves early in the encounter when he drilled a goal into the bottom corner from the edge of the box at Mapfre Stadium. Geoff Cameron provided a cushion with a well-taken header before Graham Zusi and Jozy Altidore wrapped up a comfortable win in the second half.
