USC standout, ex-NFL RB Joe McKnight, 28, shot and killed in New Orleans suburb

Former USC standout and ex-NFL running back and Joe McKnight was killed in a shooting in Terrytown, Louisiana, a New Orleans suburb, on Thursday. McKnight was 28 years old.

The shooting was reported at 3 p.m. local time after a dispute at an intersection in Terrytown led to the unnamed suspect shooting and killing McKnight, according to the police report obtained by NOLA.com. McKnight's family confirmed his death.

McKnight was the nation's top-ranked running back in 2007 coming out of John Curtis High School in New Orleans and committed to USC, where he played for three years and rushed for 2,214 yards and 13 touchdowns before declaring for the NFL Draft after his junior year.
