And on the third day, the roof closed. Light rain forced tournament officials to close the Arthur Ashe Stadium roof for the first time in competition during the second set of Rafael Nadal’s 6-0, 7-5, 6-1 victory over Andreas Seppi on Wednesday night.

But the buzz around the roof has been about, well, the buzz.

With more than 22,000 people under a closed roof, it was expected to be much louder in Ashe Stadium than before.

But there have been complaints about the noise in Ashe by players, fans and TV commentators even when the roof is open.
