NEW YORK – No. 2-seed Angelique Kerber and No. 10-seed Karolina Pliskova will face off for the 2016 U.S. Open title on Saturday. Kerber, who will supplant Serena Williams as the World No. 1 on Monday, is coming off a win over Caroline Wozniacki in the semifinals and she has reached the final without dropping a set. Pliskova, who is riding a 12-match win streak dating back to the Western & Southern Open in early August, stunned top-seeded Serena to earn a spot in her first Grand Slam final. Kerber is playing in her third major final of the year and seeks her second Grand Slam title of the season, and she holds a 4-3 head-to-head advantage over her opponent.
