LANCASTER, Pa. — After the debacle that was the 2015 U.S. Open, which saw criticism fly-in from all corners of the golf world and a feud erupt between Gary Player and the course designer, the U.S. Women’s Open will look and feel more like a traditional U.S. Open.
Lancaster Country Club is a lush, undulating, tree-lined course in Pennsylvania designed by William S. Flynn — the same person who crafted the two legendary U.S. Open courses Shinnecock and Merion. The rough is up and the course is soft, which means the 6,460 yards will feel longer because the ball won’t roll as far.
