Angelique Kerber moved into her third grand slam final of the year Thursday with a comfortable semifinal win over Caroline Wozniacki at the U.S. Open.
Kerber, who took over from Serena Williams as world No. 1 after the American's loss earlier in the evening at Flushing Meadows, recorded a 6-4, 6-3 win over Denmark's Wozniacki. The Australian Open champion and Wimbledon runner-up will face Williams' conqueror, Karolina Pliskova, in the decider.

Kerber was characteristically consistent in the semifinal, while Wozniacki — a two-time runner-up in New York — made too many errors.
