U.S. government investigating Middle Tennessee State athletic department

The Office for Civil Rights of the Department of Education is investigating Middle Tennessee State University's athletic department for discrimination against female athletes, the Daily News Journal reported.

The department received a letter of complaint in November that stated female student-athletes were not receiving equal treatment in traveling arrangements, assignment and compensation of coaches, locker rooms, practice and competitive facilities, recruiting, medical and training facilities, and housing and dining facilities and services as male athletes.
