ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Ronda Rousey, the Ultimate Fighting Championship women’s bantamweight champion, announced Friday that she would next fight the world’s former No. 1-rated female boxer.
Rousey told ABC’s “Good Morning America” that she would defend her title against the former world champion boxer Holly Holm in Las Vegas on Jan. 2.
Holm, 33, an Albuquerque boxer turned mixed martial arts fighter, signed with the U.F.C., the world’s largest mixed martial arts promotion, last year after months of negotiations.
Rousey called Holm the sport’s most decorated striker and said the fight would be her “biggest challenge to date.
