Anthony Pettis had his back against the wall heading into his UFC on Fox 21 against Charles Oliveira. He had lost three consecutive fights at lightweight and was dropping down to featherweight.
"Showtime" lived up to the moniker Saturday, defeating Oliveira by submission (guillotine choke) at 1:49 of the third round.
"I punched him unconscious in the first round," Pettis told Brian Stann in his post-fight interview. "I gassed myself out a bit. I’ll make some adjustments."
The fight began with each fighter going right at the other. Pettis threw a body kick and Oliveira pressed him against the cage, trying for a takedown.
