The Yazoo City Zoos hosted a doubleheader in Yazoo City, Miss. on June 11 against the Cotton States League rival Columbus Joy Riders. The Joy Riders' catcher wasn't happy when he got injured in the second inning of Game 1 and couldn't play the rest of the day.
Columbus was shorthanded and didn't have a backup catcher. Fans were restless and the umpire threatened forfeit as the Joy Riders searched for a solution.

"The Yazoo City catcher, Taylor, volunteered to keep the game going and it was agreed to by all in authority," the book Richter's History and Records of Base Ball documented.
