Opening statements in former assistant football coach Mike McQueary's lawsuit against Penn State, stemming from the school's treatment of him after he blew the whistle on Jerry Sandusky, were scheduled Monday in Centre County (Pa.) court, Philly.com reported.
McQueary's testimony is in great part credited with Sandusky's conviction in 2012 on child sex abuse charges covering decades in and around the Nittany Lions program.
Now, however, McQueary, who also played quarterback at Penn State, is seeking $4 million in damages from a 12-person jury in Bellefonte, Pa.

In his lawsuit, McQueary accuses the school of not only impugning his credibility as a witness but also forcing him from his job as a Nittany Lions assistant that paid him more than $100,000 per year, all in the wake of his claim that in 2001 he told three Penn State administrators that he saw Sandusky sexually assaulting a boy in a campus locker room but they failed to take that information to police.
