College baseball locker rooms are not expansive and cavernous like those in football. They aren’t built to hold more than 100 players. They aren’t even built to hold 50 players. That’s because for the last decade college baseball teams have been restricted to a roster of 35. For at least one year, that’s changing.
The NCAA’s ruling earlier this week to give seniors an additional season of eligibility–without counting against the roster limitation–means more players on virtually every college baseball team in 2021. And while all agree with Monday’s decision in light of the virus canceling the spring season, many coaches are searching for extra space in their cozy confines.
