Tony Stewart's season-best outing ends in crash with Danica Patrick at Pocono

It’s always difficult when teammates crash — perhaps even more so when one is also the boss. Tony Stewart and Danica Patrick, though, found themselves in an unavoidable collision in Monday’s rain-delayed Sprint Cup race.

Stewart and his Stewart-Haas Racing teammate Patrick crashed just past the midway point of the Axalta “We Paint Winners” 400 at Pocono Raceway on Monday.

Stewart was three wide with Kyle Larson and Ricky Stenhouse Jr. when he slid back, slipping toward the wall and crashed into Patrick’s front end. Others went wide on the track trying to avoid the incident. Patrick’s car made contact with Landon Cassill’s as she slid past her boss after their contact.
