Though the sport's most popular driver is sidelined with a concussion, Tony Stewart applauds the time and effort that NASCAR puts into safety.
Stewart, who is retiring as a driver after this season, said that he plans to be like his father, Nelson, who is still racing into his 70s. After finishing second in Sunday’s Sprint Cup race at New Hampshire Motor Speedway, he addressed the issue of concussions and the concussion protocol in the sport in light of Dale Earnhardt Jr.'s injury.
Earnhardt missed Sunday's race, suffering from concussion-like symptoms after recent crashes at Michigan and Daytona.
