Even before he injured his back, causing him to miss part of his final Sprint Cup season, Tony Stewart was emphatic that this would be his final season as a NASCAR driver.
That was his plan before the season, and it's still his plan despite the injury.

"We're done. When Homestead happens, no matter how the year went, we're done," Stewart said emphatically during the Charlotte Motor Speedway Media Tour in January. "If it's a terrible year, I'm not going to sit there and say that defined my year because the stats will show what we did over 18 years.
