NFL commissioner Roger Goodell caused a bit of a firestorm with comments he made on the "Rich Eisen Show" earlier this week. When asked if the league did any scientific tests to measure the PSI in footballs throughout the season, Goodell said there were no comprehensive examinations.
"We do spot checks to prevent and make sure the clubs understand that we're watching these issues. It wasn't a research study," he said. "They simply were spot checks. There were no violations this year."
