LOS ANGELES — If Pat Perez were not a professional golfer, he might have found success as a disc jockey spinning records from his voluminous collection of 1980s rock music.
The decade near and dear to his ear produced so many one-hit wonders that VH1 compiled a 100-greatest list capped off by the Dexys Midnight Runners song “Come On Eileen.” It would not have been Perez’s top choice. He is partial to Mother Love Bone’s “Crown of Thorns,” which came out in 1990. But then, he is not one to judge musicians by their platinum records.
